Meal Planning

One way to save money each month is to plan your meals.  You can have a generalized list of meals your family likes to eat or a detailed plan for each meal of the day.  Do what works for you and your family, but do something!

I have a friend who puts together a list of meals that she has in her house.  Either before she goes to bed for the evening or when she wakes up in the morning, she takes a look at her list and decides what she wants to eat for dinner and pulls out those ingredients to cook her meal.

I know others who put together a very detailed monthly plan for each day of the week to include breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.

I am somewhere in between these two methods.  I like a bit more detail and structure is important to me but with a family of 7 that homeschools, I need to have some flexibility in our meal planning,
